VP, GM and Director of Sales and Marketing appointed to the Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo

Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts announced the appointment of Timothy Wright as Vice President and General Manager, and Chris McFall as Sales and Marketing Director for Shangri-La Hotel Colombo is expected to open in The second half of 2017. Being the second property Sri Lanka hotel for the leading group of Asian hospitality, join Shangri-La Hambantota Resort & Spa, which opened in June this year.

Mr. Wright brings over thirty years of experience in the hospitality industry, including executive positions at Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts. He joined the group based in Hong Kong in 1993 as part of the team's events, before joining the Food and Beverages Department and becoming Director of the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore. His most recent work include General Manager positions for Traders Hotel Singapore (now Hotel Jen); Eros Hotel Shangri-La, New Delhi; Shangri-La Mactan Resort & Spa in Cebu; Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok; Shangri-La Rasa Resort & Spa in Kota Kinabalu and Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong. As one of the Group's most trusted leaders, he was appointed Head of Human Resources in January 2014, joining the Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts corporate team in Hong Kong. British Columbia Timothy Wright studied Hotel Management in London.

Mr. Wright will be responsible for managing the property's 500 rooms and 41 apartments, and overseeing all operations within the hotel. Its mission also includes sister property bypass operations, Shangri-La Hambantota Resort & Spa, Sri Lanka and Shangri-La two properties in India. A team of experienced executives support Mr. Wright in his mission, including Chris McFall, who was appointed Director of Sales and Marketing for Shangri-La, Colombo Hotel. With more than 20 years of hospitality experience in UA.E., UK, Switzerland, USA, Thailand and South Africa, British Chris McFall brings a wealth of knowledge to the hotel. His most recent role was with Jumeirah Group, as Director of Sales and Marketing of Jumeirah Creekside Hotel, Dubai. Previously, Mr. McFall was the Sales and Marketing Group Manager for Abjar Hotels International, which owns the hotel's sales and marketing strategy, overlooking nine Dubai properties and sales and marketing manager for four Hotels in Dubai within the Accor group. His first foray into hospitality was in the SHA Ecole hôtelière Les Roches, Switzerland.

The introduction of a new level of luxury in Colombo, Shangri-La Hotel will offer 500 rooms and suites and 41 apartments, offering a personal sanctuary becoming a tropical getaway in the city.
